CNN was almost giddy calling Joe Biden’s airstrikes on Syria a masterstroke of diplomacy, delivered with “a scalpel instead of a sledgehammer.”
In an article published on Friday evening, analyst Nick Patton Walsh described Joe Biden’s airstrike on Syria as:
…“minimally lethal” and “a small signal that the Biden administration is not gun-shy.”
Unlike President Donald Trump’s “sledgehammer” diplomacy, the “scalpel”-like strike was a reasonable move in Biden’s efforts to bring Iran back into the 2015 nuclear deal, which Trump pulled out of in 2018.
“In the protracted effort to see who will blink first between Tehran and the Biden administration, Thursday’s strikes on Iranian-backed militia in Syria are but a tiny insect floating into both their gazes,”
The article went on to praise Biden’s cabinet of Iran “experts” and criticize the “damage the last four years of Trump has done to faith in careful American diplomacy.”
Biden’s Airstrikes on Syria Makes CNN Giddy
Not surprisingly, CNN can’t even keep their Trump-hate messaging straight.
While they’ll deny it, CNN loves war. In fact, it’s the news network’s original claim to fame, because death and destruction makes for good ratings.
So when Trump launched his own strikes on the same militia in Syria in 2019, he received some rare praise from CNN.
But now that Biden is President, CNN quickly did a little revisionist history.
Mainstream Media’s Double Standard Over Airstrikes on Syria Is Nothing New.
The double standard between Trump and Biden on Syria isn’t exclusive to CNN. Nor for that matter at any other mainstream news network.
It’s even taking place in Joe Biden’s own administration.
Harris went so far as to lecture Trump that he should have consulted Congress before hiis reckless attack on Syria.
Of course, Kamala Harris said nothing despite Joe Biden not consulting Congress before launching his airstrike on Syria.
The president needs to lay out a comprehensive strategy in Syria in consultation with Congress — and he needs to do it now.

Trump’s sledgehammer diplomacy
A year later, when Trump pondered but ultimately decided against a strike on Iran itself, Biden wrote that “Trump’s erratic, impulsive actions” would make “another war in the Middle East” more likely.
When the Trump administration targeted the Kataib Hezbollah militia and other Shia Popular Mobilization Units (PMU).
Which culminated in a drone taking out General Qassem Soleimani, commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran, in January 2020.
Biden himself led the chorus of Democrats who denounced President Donald Trump’s move at the time, saying he “tossed a stick of dynamite into a tinderbox.”

I guess since it’s now Joe Biden striking the match on this ‘Tinderbox’, according to the Democrats and their Mainstream media cohorts… All’s Good!
