Family members and friends gathered Thursday evening to honor the short life of Cannon Hinnant, the 5-year-old boy who was murdered execution-style by his neighbor, Darius Sessoms, Sunday night in Wilson, North Carolina.
As TuskerDaily reported last week, Cannon Hinnant was just sitting on his bicycle outside his house playing with his sisters, when Sessoms walked up to this innocent child, put a gun to his head, and fired.
Grandfather Attends A Funeral He Should Never Have Had To For Grandson
Cannon’s distraught grandfather, Merrill Race, attending a funeral that before Sunday he couldn’t possibly have imagined attending, expressing his pain and disbelief, to ABC11 “we shouldn’t even be here.”
Cannon’s grandfather, a member of the local Guardians of the Children, described his grandson as a “beautiful kid” who loved playing outside.
Since Sunday, Cannon’s death has garnered national attention.
People all across the world have been using several hashtags with Cannon’s name, sending prayers, words of encouragement, and even monetary donations.
