Darriynn Brown has yet to charged with the murder of 4-year-old Cash Gernon.

Four days after Cash Gernon’s bloodied body was found in the early morning hours by a jogger passing through a Dallas, Texas, neighborhood.

One suspect – 18-year-old Darriynn Ronnell Brown – remains jailed on a $1.5 million bond since his arrest late Saturday on kidnapping and burglary charges.

Cash was asleep around 5 a.m. Saturday when a person was seen in home surveillance camera footage lifting the child out of his bed at a home in the 7500 block of Florina Parkway before carrying him away, according to an arrest affidavit.

Cash and his twin brother were staying at the home owned by their biological father’s ex-girlfriend, Monica Sherrod. She had not been able to get in contact with the boys’ father since March when he left his sons in her care.

Court documents say Sherrod was the one to identify Brown in the surveillance footage watched together with investigators, but the connection Brown has to the family remains unclear.

Darriynn Brown Targeted 4-year-old Cash Gernon

Kamron Moori, told KXAS-TV he lived with Cash and considered him a brother, insisted the boy was targeted for no apparent reason.

“Yes, random. Out of nowhere,” Moori told the station. “No reason for none of this. It’s not from revenge, not from hate, not from none of that.”

“Like why?” he said through tears. “He was four. Who does this to a 4-year-old kid,” he asked. “For what? For what reason? Because you want to be evil?”

Home surveillance footage showed the suspect, later identified as Brown, swiping a sleeping Cash from his bed and carrying him away around 5 a.m. Saturday, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by the outlet.

“We got cameras all over the place in my house,” Moori said. “It shows him coming in, took him while he was asleep. While he was asleep. Carried him out of my house while he was asleep.”

  1. This rodents deserves a very swift, very painful, very public death. Murdering a 4 year old child for no reason is pure evil, and needs to be dealt with accordingly

  2. Excellent read, I just passed this onto a friend who was doing a little research on that. And he just bought me lunch as I found it for him smile Therefore let me rephrase that: Thanks for lunch! “Life is a continual upgrade.” by J. Mark Wallace.
