Atlantic reporter Edward-Isacc Dovere and host of the Atlantic’s podcast The Ticket: Politics from The Atlanti‪c‬. Went off the rails on Feb 18th about Ted Cruz’s jaunt down to Cancun, tweeting, or retweeting 17 times in just one day.

But of course, while claiming he’s utterly shocked whenever he hears anyone accusing the media of having a liberal bias.

Isacc Dovere tweeted zero, count them ZERO times about New York Governor Andrew Cuomo covering up how many elderly New Yorkers died due to his insidious COVID-nursing home order.

10:19 AM – No one goes to Cancun for 11 hours unless they don’t expect to be spotted on the plane in the middle of a state emergency.

10:23 AM – 11 hours seems like enough time to maybe make it to Pasta and After

11:03 AM – of course, while Ted Cruz was on the plane to Cancun, he was wearing a mask – even though he said in July:

“If it ends up that Biden wins … I guarantee you the week after the election, suddenly [Democrats] will say, “Everything’s magically better”

11:16 AM – another question raised by the Cruz’s trip: since he clearly hadn’t been planning on coming back so soon before he got caught, he couldn’t have been planning much of a quarantine between international travel and going back to work in the Senate and being among colleagues & staff

12:21 – Meanwhile, in Mexico:

12:42 PM  – today in populism: a man flies home early after being caught on his Cancun vacation and asks for an escort to speed him through the airport

12:43 PM – Ted Cruz, apparently, went to Cancun specifically to *help* Texas relief

12:50 PM – Biden’s executive order from Jan 21 puts a requirement for a negative COVID test before coming back, which Cruz would have had to get pretty quickly this morning before booking his rushed flight home in order to comply

1:19 PM – Cruz’s defense of his own flying to Cancun in the middle of a state emergency is to explain that his daughters decided to take advantage of school being canceled during the emergency to take a vacation in Cancun and he just went with them

2:25 PM – who doesn’t have a Ritz Carlton employee accompany him to the airport in Cancun for a trip that was prescheduled though the ticket was bought at 6 a.m., when he was just being a good dad flying his 10 & 12 yr old daughters to a resort that was their idea amid an emergency?

2:56 PM – Can’t believe a windmill made Ted Cruz fly to Cancun

7:00 PM – Edward-Isacc Dovere tweets out this meme about Ted Cruz’s wife and daughter…Nice!

In 2019 Dovere’s tweeted out what he described as a “Scoop”  that went vile claiming that long-time journalist David Sirota, who had just been hired as Bernie Sanders’ speechwriter and senior adviser.

In his story “Bernie Sanders Just Hired His Twitter Attack Dog” Edward-Isacc Dovere claimed that:

Since December, David Sirota has, on Twitter, on the website Capital & Main, and in columns in The Guardian, been trashing most of Sanders’s Democratic opponents—all without disclosing his work with Sanders

As you might have guessed, Edward-Isacc Dovere’s big scoop was a complete lie

The Atlantic attempted to ‘fix’ Dovere’s story through after publication edits and “updates”.

  • * This article originally mischaracterized the website Capital & Main.
  • ** This article originally misstated one of the publication dates of a Guardian op-ed. It was published on December 22, not December 31.

Most critically, if what Dovere had written was true. It would have meant David Sirota’s earlier published investigation into Beto O’Rourke’s voting record, donors, and funding sources would now be seriously tainted.

To take his lying a step further, the same day he published his story Dovere doubled-downed on his lie.

In fact, while still having never apologized for his lie, Dovere stepped on a rake when he tweeted out PROOF that he lied.

Since Sirota’s piece on Beto was published on December 10, 2018, then Dovere’s own tweet proves he made up his story:
