President Donald Trump in a dig toward his not altogether there Democrat opponent Joe Biden, added a not-so-coincidental stop to his campaign road trip that kicks off on the first day of the Democratic National Convention.
President Trump announced an added campaign stop to tiny Old Forge, PA, which just so happens to be just outside Joe Biden’s hometown of Scranton.
Hours before the presumptive Democratic nominee delivers his acceptance speech from his Delaware home at around 10 p.m. Thursday, Trump will be less than 4 miles from Biden’s birthplace Scranton — talking about Biden’s 40-year long record of failure as a Senator, and Obama’s VP.
Of course, President Trump’s plan to troll Joe hinges on Biden actually remembering where his hometown is, which at this point is 50/50 at best.
Trump’s swing-state jaunt kicks off Monday in Mankato, Minn. and Oshkosh, Wisc. The president will then head to Yuma, Az. Tuesday.
The president’s campaign spokesman Tim Murtaugh told Politico:
“While Joe Biden spends his time hiding from voters and the media, President Trump will actually be seeing people face-to-face,”
Team Biden Didn’t Appreciate Trump Trolling Sleepy Joe
“Fly-in, fly-out airport sideshows,” Biden campaign spokesman Andrew Bates griped Friday, taking exception to the trips, which buck the longstanding political tradition of lying low while the opposing party has its big night.
Both parties had to pull back from a normal schedule of public appearances in the face of the coronavirus pandemic. Of course, Joe Biden took it a wee bit further has he’s locked himself away in his Delaware basement.
Even when Joe ventures out into the daylight, he (and now Kamala Harris also) refuse to answer any questions from reporters.
