Despite claiming that a majority of Virginians support their new Gun Control Laws, the Democrats still resorted to lying to voters as to the reason why they’re infringing on our right to bear arms.

From the moment the Democrats won the majority, gun control has dominated Virginia’s now Democrat-controlled General Assembly’s.

Despite having the majority in both chambers and armed with the support of their Blackface and/or White Hoodie wearing Democrat Gov. Ralph Northam.

Liberal Progressive Democrats wanting to chip away at Americans Second Amendment rights have pushed through a slew of bills they claim were necessary to stop the violence caused by guns.

One of those bills that as of Wednesday has now become law was the Democrats limiting law-abiding Virginians’ to being able to purchase only one handgun per month.

Of course, many people will claim this is a reasonable law. But as the Democrats have shown in other areas such as abortion, they just can’t wait to slide down that slippery slope.

In 1973 Roe v. Wade gave a woman the right to have an abortion in the first trimester. But over the last five-decades, Democrat-controlled states kept chipping away at the law to make it easier to murder of unborn children.

And in January 2020, New York has now made Infanticide the law. Worse, Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam advocated for allowed a newborn child to be aborted if the mother suddenly decided that shoe shopping and partying were far more important than caring for her just born child.

The Second Amendment Slippery Slope

Second Amendment supporters are rightfully concerned about the slippery slope this new gun control law could easily travel down.

Under the bill, buying more than one handgun in a 30-day period is a Class 1 misdemeanor, which carries a penalty of up to a year in jail and a $2,500 fine.

How soon will it be before the Democrats start attempting to revise this law making it ‘One handgun purchase every 6 months? One per year? One handgun per household?

But more amazing to me is instead of the Democrats believing in their Gun-Control advocacy, and telling voters their true feelings.

Democrats started lying in order to convince independent voters the necessity of this law.

Leftist supporters of the bill claimed that the one handgun a month law will cut down on people coming from out of state to purchase multiple guns, or buying them in bulk through illegal straw purchases.

Of course, they failed to show any evidence that this was actually happening, and with good reason.

There is none!

According to Giffords Law Center, Virginia ranked 26th out of 50 states for gun law strength, before these news laws went into effect.

The liberal Progressive Gun Control NOW! Giffords Law Center ranks each of the 50 states for gun law strength.

Not surprisingly California ranked #1 as it has the most stringent gun laws in the nation.

On the other end of the spectrum, Mississippi came in #50 due to its having the least restrictive gun laws in America.

Out of State Gun Buyers Have Far Better Choices Than Virginia.

The Democrats’ so-called out of state gun buyers excuse is laughable in the face of facts.

Out of state gun buyers could purchase guns in far less restrictive states than #26th ranked Virginia.

Gun buyers from northern states such as #4 New York or #2 New Jersey

  • Could travel less distance to #30 ranked New Hamshire or #23 Vermont.
  • Travel nearly the same distance and go to #34 West Virginia.

Gun Buyers west of #26 Virginia already live in states with less restrictive gun laws:

  • #29 Tennessee
  • #30 West Virginia
  • #46 Kentucky

South of #26 Virginia is #24 North Carolina which has just barely tougher gun-control laws.

But why would a North Carolinian head north to Virginia?  A gun-buyer from North Carolina could just travel south to much easier states to purchase their new gun(s):

  • #31 South Carolina
  • #38 Alabama
  • #40 Georgia

The first step in a long court battle fails

Virginia Citizens Defense League was among five plaintiffs that sued Virginia over the law, arguing that it violates residents’ constitutional rights.

Unfortunately, Goochland Circuit Court Judge Timothy K. Sanner ruled against the gun-rights groups Thursday, which meant the law went into effect on July 1.
